Our story
Patent deadlines are simple arithmetic until you miss one.
I'm Johnny Mobley. I started building systems for other people in 2000, when I was 16, and I've been doing it ever since. Along the way I automated most of my own work, and the tools I built for myself became these companies. Each one runs on rules I wrote down, not on paid AI calls, which is why it can cost so little.
If you're an inventor with a provisional filing or a granted patent, the dates that matter come straight from the statutes: twelve months to claim priority, thirty or thirty-one for the PCT national phase, and the maintenance-fee windows after grant. I built PatentKin to work those dates out from the filing or grant date you enter and keep them in one list.
Every date says which rule it comes from. It isn't legal advice, it doesn't know about extensions on your particular matter, and it isn't docketing software. Your list stays in your own browser.
What works today
- Works out the statutory deadlines from a filing or grant date: the 12-month priority date, PCT national-phase dates, and the maintenance-fee windows and grace periods
- Saves your matters in a deadline list in your browser and exports them as calendar reminders
What it doesn't do yet
Alt Legal still does things PatentKin doesn't:
- Pulling your matters and new deadlines automatically from the patent office.
- Email reminders before a date comes due.
- Trademark deadlines and foreign-country rules.
- Sharing a docket with a team or a law firm.
